What a difference a day makes!
Thanks to all the supporters who sent more than 10,000 emails to their MEPs ahead of a crucial meeting at the European Parliament on Tuesday, 7 October.
The parliament's environment committee agreed that as well as cutting emissions at home, EU member nations should help pay for emissions cuts in developing countries.
The next step
We have to keep up the pressure. There is still a lot to do to improve and strengthen the European Union's position. We have until December to influence its plans.
As the world's largest economic bloc, the EU will have a major impact at the crucial Copenhagen summit next year.
The deal struck at Copenhagen will replace the Kyoto treaty as the world's principal weapon against global warming.
