Machinima

Machinima is a new form of filmmaking that uses computer game technology & software to make animated films.

This technology means everyone can think big and bold ideas. It is multi-platform, flexible filming technology that costs a fraction of conventional filming and animation.

The technology is quick and easily understood by young people. It allows them to participate actively in the film making process and makes editing and directing easy.

Benefits

Machinima is a great tool for empowering young people and giving them a voice. It sparks debate and discussion and provides a platform for articulating their own thoughts and opinions in a truly accessible, up to date medium that other young people can relate to.

Hand Up Media's pilot project demonstrated that young people wholeheartedly embrace dynamic projects such as these. It offers them an opportunity to learn new and exciting skills combined with providing an excellent platform to tell their own story.

You can see an example of machinima in action here and see what the kids have to say about working on this project here.
